I'd been to Northern Michigan in August before so was expecting mosquitoes the size of Bell Jet Rangers, a very conservative populace and BAD food. But instead I found a thriving, beautiful landscape, friendly and welcoming people, tasty fareĀ and no blood-sucking beasts. The area is vaguely known as the "Cherry Coast," although there is an abundance of all kinds of fruit growing (apples, peaches, plums, grapes, etc) everywhere. Having said all that, I don't plan on going back in February.
