Phase 1 (of 3) of a unique and epic photo road trip on the Grand Army of the Republic Highway. It was completed in 1936 and until 1964, when it was truncated in California and renamed Route 6, it was the longest highway in America. Unlike the modern interstate highway system, it was meant to meander and connect cities and towns along the way. 75-80% of it is still two lane country road.
I gave myself a strict parameter for this project -- only photographing what I can see from the road. I will be posting images starting from East to West. I hope to complete the project in 2027.
